Frainer Heimatkreuz
Zum ersten Mal seit über 30 Jahren machten meine Mama und ich uns am 30. Mai 2005 auf den Weg, um das Frainer Heimatkreuz zu besuchen.
An die genaue Route dorthin erinnerten wir uns kaum und auch meine Wanderkarten waren keine große Hilfe. In der Realität gab es einfach viel mehr alte Waldwege als auf das geduldige Papier gedruckt.

My mommy and I turned ourselves into the first time since more than 30 years on the 30th May 2005 onto the way in order to visit the Frainer home cross.
There remembered at the precise route we us hardly and also my hiking cards were not a great aid. In the reality there was simply many more old forest ways than onto the patient paper printed.

Als wir das alte Lusthaus (Letohradek Braitava) in der Breitau - Braitava erreichten, wussten wir, dass wir im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes zu weit gegangen waren. Dazu hätten wir die Hinweistafeln auf die Staatsgrenze zur Tschechischen Republik nicht gebraucht.
Das früher ruinöse Lusthaus präsentierte sich - zumindest von außen - schön renoviert. Eigentlich fehlten nur noch Tische und Sessel auf der Terrasse und ein schönes Ausflugslokal wäre unerreichbar nahe vor uns gestanden.

When we the old pleasure house (Letohradek Braitava) in the Breitau - Braitava achieved, we knew, that we had gone in the truest sense of the word too far. We would not have needed the notices onto the state boundary to that to the Czech Republic.
That formerly ruinous pleasure house presented - at least of outside - beautifully renovates. Actually tables and armchairs on the terrace were missing only still and a beautiful tourist cafe would have stood inaccessibly near before us.

in geringer Entfernung zum heutigen Standort ein Kreuz aus Birkenholz aufgerichtet. Zweimal wurde dieses Kreuz durch ein neues ersetzt, dann aber schon am jetzigen Standort.
Am 8. Mai 2004 wurde das Denkmal mit Genehmigung der Verwaltung des Nationalparks Thayatal, der NÖ Umweltschutzbehörde und der Waldbesitzer durch ein Metallkreuz ersetzt.
Ehemalige Frainer (Lilly Albrecht-Haynau, Kom. Rat Wilhelm Anderle, Dr. Werner Antoni, Elfriede Gläser, Ing. Rudolf Hauer, Wilfried Hippmann, Johann Hohl, Walter Hohl, Johann Ipp, Adolf Neunteufel, Ing. Walter Schmidt, Anni Schmid-Arbter, Heinz Starka, Ing. Karl Tiefenbach, Reinhold Wittmann, Alfred Wolf, Liesl Worlitzky-Hudetz) unterstützten diese Neuerrichtung finanziell und Freunde aus Felling mit Arbeitskraft.
Anwesend an diesem Tag im Mai waren Johann Hohl, Walter Hohl, Roman Hohl, Franz Fuchs, Reinhold Wittmann, Rudolf Hauer, L. Stoemer-Hauer, Willy Anderle, Alfred Wolf, Michael Mitranic, Alfred Frischauf, Christian Frischauf, Hermann Frischauf, Peter Rapp und Rudolf Lemberger.

in small distance to the present site a cross of birchwood gotten up. Twice this cross was replaced by a new, then but already at the present site.
On 8th May 2004 the monument with permission of the administration of the national park Thayatal, the Lower Austrian environmental control authority  and the forest owners was replaced by a metal cross.

Während ich mich ein wenig umsah und fotografierte, las meine Mutter im "Gästebuch" und so fanden wir auch die Eintragung von Bekannten aus Riegersburg, die im September 2004 hierher eine Wanderung unternommen hatten.

While I was looking around a little bit and photographing, my mother read in the "guest book" and we found also the insertion of acquaintances like this from Riegersburg which had undertaken an excursion here in September 2004.

Ein Blick auf die tief unten gelegene Thaya und das in der Tschechischen Republik gelegene andere Ufer.
Während um 1200 Uhr Mittags die Kirchenglocken von Hardegg zu hören waren, fotografierte ich Cizov - Zaisa. Wenn man genau schaut, sieht man rechts von den Häusern sogar die Pfähle des ehemaligen Eisernen Vorhangs. Nur der alte Wachtturm fehlt leider.

During at 1200 o'clock noon's to hear the church-bells of Hardegg were, I photographed Cizov - Zaisa. If one looks exactly, one sees even the stakes of the former iron curtain to the right of the houses. Only the old guard tower is missing unfortunately.

 

 
Und wie kommt man zum Heimatkreuz der Frainer?
Links vom Fellinger Forsthaus (Strasse von Felling nach Hardegg) die Forststrasse entlang und bei der ersten Kreuzung rechts abbiegen und dann immer geradeaus.
Bei einem kleinen umzäunten Waldstück an der linken Seite des Weges in spitzem Winkel links abbiegen.
Bei einer Weggabelung - man erkennt schon, dass das Thayatal nicht mehr weit weg ist - links abbiegen.
Die Stelle, an der Sie zum Kreuz abbiegen müssen, ist markiert. Es gibt aber keinen gesicherten Zugang zum Heimatkreuz!
Und beachten sie unbedingt die Markierungen der Grenze zur Tschechischen Republik!!!

And how does one come to the home cross of the people of Frain?
To deflect the forest street to the left from the Fellinger forester's house (Road from Felling to Hardegg) along and at the first crossing to the right and then frankly.
Turning to the left at a small fenced forest piece at the left side of the way in peaked angle.
Turning to the left at a way fork - one recognizes already that the Thayatal is not more far away.
The way, where you have to go to the cross is marked. No way leads down the slope!
And they absolutely pay attention to the markers of the boundary to the Czech Republic!!!
